| IP video surveillance - A new achievement for CamTrace |
The CamTrace video surveillance solution developed by Camtrace SAS has made a new conquest in the banking market. CamTrace has been chosen by the Val de France Orlanais branch of the Caisse dEpargne to equip 130 of its agencies. |

Already equipped with Axis Communications network cameras, the Caisse d'Epargne was looking for a reliable, efficient solution that was easy to deploy and to administer
From its centralized security PC, the Caisse d'Epargne wants to be able to display images in real time from a number of cameras located in its 130 agencies (to distinguish between real and false alarms) and record activity on a continuous basis. For this, it uses its own private IP network. To avoid unnecessary use of the bandwidth, camera video flows are recorded locally on a CamTrace server installed in each branch. The same server is able to rebroadcast, upon request, real time or recorded images to the security PC.
CamTrace is delivered in the form of a black box capable of recording camera flows and rebroadcasting images to all client workstations.
Like Axis Communications cameras, CamTrace operates with a UNIX/Linux system (Linux for cameras and FreeBSD for CamTrace). CamTrace sets itself apart from software recording solutions that operate with Ms Windows by embodying the concept of a video surveillance server: administration using menus automatic resumption in the event of an interruption in recording complete integration of the operating system and the video surveillance application remote startup assistance and configuration resistance to viruses and piracy remote updates with storage of images and parameters.
Another feature that won over the Val de France Orlanais branch of the Caisse dEpargne is the ability to preconfigure video servers. Camtrace SAS has developed an automatic configuration and serialization program. The Caisse d'Epargne simply provides a spreadsheet describing the configuration of each agency, (IP addresses, camera names, etc.) and receives customized machines for each branch.
Last but not least, the price was also a deciding factor as it includes equipment with a 120 GB disk, the operating system, a relational database, a web server and the actual video surveillance application, all for the price of a simple PC.
The solution was marketed by SCC who also provides maintenance and installation services. Deployment was completed in October 2004.
This success follows on the heels of the BPPOAA (Banques Populaires in the Pyrnes Orientales, the Aude and at Arige) installations, where 60 CamTrace installations manage several hundred cameras. This first video market contract in banking IP was awarded to Amec Spie Toulouse who deploys the solution and performs maintenance. |
